Anna's mother is to blame. By telling her daughter she doesn't want to know all that she has done, she has actually damaged their relationship. I am betting that when Jess's mother hears things from her daughter, she also makes her feel like she doesn't need to be bad. Anna has nobody to tell her that she needs to play it safe, so she does bad things either because she thinks its okay or because she is trying to get her mothers attention. You need to at least advise Anna's mother that she should really listen to her daughter. If she won't do it, than maybe you could be there for Anna.
